The demand from APAC remained flat YOY almost at 146 million tons as import growth in Japan, Singapore and Taiwan was balanced by a significant fall in imports in South Korea. Substantial demand growth is anticipated.

Further, the report states that one challenge that could hamper market growth is the increased adoption of hybrid electric vehicles. Hybrid electric vehicles are also being promoted by many governments owing to their lower use of conventional fuels and less noise and air pollution.
